Oscar Hunt (b. 2004) is based in Kansas City. His visual practice exists as a dialogue among popular and artistic culture, the internet, and accumulated rituals and obsessions, systems which shape our lives.
The work is rooted in an investigation; real experience and its relationship with fabrication. ‘Fabricated’ refers to the built environment, whether that be a complex in the mind, a video game, or an actual wall. The world we navigate on a daily basis is largely a constructed grid, physically in terms of the built environment, territories, media, and the internet, but also emotionally in terms of the rational structures which surround our individual perception. How can impersonal gestures reflect the grid of human construction? At what point does our construction become obtrusive?
